I was inspired by some sights, both in my kitchen and in my yard. Here in New England, spring comes slowly (often called “mud season”), so we have to take advantage of sunny days and bits of color as they come.

Lemon plums?!
I know – crazy! It’s a new fruit we found at Costco (similar to Pluots, which are plums + apricots). They taste quite similar to plums, but the skin is a little zestier…
I’m trying to remember a fruit I ate in Virginia right off a tree. It was real acrid if it wasn’t ripe, but super yum if it was. A little orange looking thing…dang.
Persimmons! Do you guys have those up there? I’ve only had them once and I’ve never seen them since.
I’ve never eaten one, but always wanted to! Maybe I’ll have to go on the hunt. I don’t think they are native to New England.
Connecticut to Florida (I guess not in Ohio) https://www.slowfoodusa.org/ark-item/american-persimmon
Yeah, I never even heard of a lemon plump. What’s next, a lime banana?
Maybe! You never know what those crazy farmers will think up next. Apple pears (or Asian Pears) are quite good too!
